The elephant orphanage is located close to the Udawalawa National Park and is 3 km from the Uda Walawa Reservoir. The Department of Wild Life Conservation is in charge of this orphanage with the objective of caring for orphanaged elephant, brining them up and later releasing them into the jungle. This is a tourist attraction and educates visitors of the care and concern that is shown to the orphanaged elephants by the authorities.
