Kosgoda in the South-West coast of Sri Lanka is known that the place was chosen by 5 species of sea turtles that come here during the breeding season. Brood future offspring turtles dig on the beaches of Kosgoda nest and lay eggs.

In 1978 in Kosgoda Sea Turtle Conservation Project was created with the aim of preserving these amazing marine creatures, many of them die from poaching, including by the destruction of nests. The project provides for the organization of the turtle farm with incubators and aquariums for rearing sea turtles. Currently in Kosgoda we have already set up 5 of these farms.
