Gangaramaya Temple, Colombo

More than 120 years ago in Colombo was built the most famous Buddhist temple Gangaramaya, which currently has more turned into a Museum complex. And tourists sometimes there is more than faithful Buddhists.

The complex is just a huge variety of ancient artifacts, statues, Buddha images, valuable books, jewelry and other “valuables” that believers bring in a donation to the temple. For tourists the most interesting are:

• Dozens of statues of Buddha, built on multi-tiered wall;
• The sacred Bodhi tree (Bodhi), which was brought from the sacred city of Anuradhapura;
• And of course, a large collection of expensive antique cars, preserved in perfect condition.
